PROCESS
If a picture is worth a thousand words, making a sketch together is probably worth a million. |
I believe in a team approach. Working closely and personally with my clients is very important to me. I also believe in being involved from the creative inception to the practical, “Here’s how we get it done.” Unlike some architects, I have a comprehensive understanding of construction practices. I prefer to be deeply involved in the construction of my designs, working closely with builders to ensure the complete realization of my architectural vision.
- Design Phase - We discuss your needs, create initial designs, and develop cost estimates and budgets.
- Technical Phase - We prepare construction documents, such as blueprints, written specifications, and product selections.
- Pricing and Pre-Construction Coordination Phase - Working with the construction team, we assemble a quote for the cost of construction, resolve questions, and - very importantly - acquire the building permits.
- Construction Phase - Where it all comes together! I am very involved in pre-construction meetings, mobilization, and construction progress meetings – all the way to completion.
I take advantage of the latest web-based technologies, which allow me to meet “virtually” with clients and contractors anywhere. More than just a convenience to my local clients, these systems are vital in meeting the unique challenges in overseeing design and construction of second homes, often located far from a client’s primary residence.
In addition, I use 3-D modeling systems, which allow me to sculpt a building or a space and walk a client through it in a "Virtual Reality" environment. My clients really appreciate this ability to visualize a proposed design.
"The process was fun. The end result - my studio - is fabulous."
